Saint Peter's Selsey
Diocese of Chichester
I n the 1840's Selsey Church had it's own band that consisted of a flute, a piccolo, a basoon and a serpent. In 1916 the piccolo and flute were presented to the Rector. They are now preserved in a glass case.
The organ that is in use today, was presented in 1917
by Edward Heron-Allen in memory of his father.
It was built by J.M.Walker
& Sons of London and is a two-manual tracker action
instrument with nine speaking stops, four couplers,
full pedal board and balanced swell.
T he Choir's main duty is
to sing at the regular Church services, although they
also are available to do weddings for a small charge.
If you would like a particlar piece of music then
please advise the Rector giving as much notice as
possible. The choir has members of all ages. The junior
members of the choir receive a small payment for their
services. If you would like to sing with us please
contact the Rector or Beryl Rodd for more details.
Alternatively just come along to Choir practice, we
meet at 7:30pm every Friday in the Church. We are
particularly short of tenors currently, so would love
to hear from you.
